Bauhinia Purpurea is a beautiful specimen of the species Bauhinia. It can be container grown and kept pruned for shape. It will flower from a young age and produce brightly coloured, fragrant and stunning orchid-like flowers. When the tree is in full bloom, to will be the focal and talking point of your garden, When mature the tree can take below freezing temperatures, but may lose its leaves, which will then come back the next spring, Whilst young and still with "green" wood, it is best treated as first tender and container grown, so can be taken inside or greenhouse overwintered.
