Brugmansia "Ethan's Red Dragon"
Although a tropcial plant, Brugmansia's do very well with the UK cooler summer. They bloom best under 25'c.
The fragrance is produced at night and is intense, heady and unmistakable. You will fall in love with these plants and not be able to own just one!
The only bloom once the plant has "Y'ed". This is where the main branch starts to grow a "Y" shape and is the plant is matured. All the plants sold on our website have been produced from cutings taken after the "Y", so will bloom in the first year of growth.
This plant will get LARGE. They are best potted up slowly to eventually reach a large container.
They only boom on "green wood" (new seasons growth, so can be pruned each year to kept smaller. Root prune as well if kept in same size pot.
Brumansia' have HEAVY feeding/watering needs. You can feed up to 2-3 x weekly to produce maximum bloom production and will need watering EVERY day.
Like free draining soil, even with their heavy watering needs, they can still get root rot, if left in staning water.
Brugmansia are frost tender and need to be protected under 5'c.They can be overwintered in a greenhouse or inside near a sunny window. They can also be made to go dormant and kept in a cool, dry cupboard, basement or spare room.
