Actinidia chinensis or Golden Kiwi is a climbing shrub from China. The Golden Kiwi fruits are yellow fleshed and much sweeter than the original green kiwi (actinidia deliciosa) we all know, The plant can be container grown or planted. They are cold hardy to around -15'c, but to needs plenty of sun for fruit to mature (Sept-Oct), so a cold spell can affect fruit production. May take 3-5 years from seed before fruit production. Will need a male and female plant to cross-pollinate. Actinidia chinensis and Actinidia deliciosa were considered to be a single species but about 15 years ago it was decided to classify them as distinct species due to clear botanical differences.
