Grow your own Passion Fruit! Passioflora Edulis is a vining plant that will grown well outside in the UK and produce stunning flowers that once pollinated will produce your own purple passion fruits, that can be picked and eaten. The plant will need to be given a south facing aspect wall or trellis to grow against and is best kept in a small pot, as this seems to make it flower and fruit better. It is frost tender, so can be pruned back and overwintered inside or a greenhouse. It may grown back if kept outside if the pot is insulated and also the top of the roots have a thick layer of mulch. The flowers of the passiofloras are some of the most stunning and delicate flowers you will ever see, but each one lasts for only one day. Luckily, once this plant is given a good spot with lots of sun to will grow very fast and produce flower after flower, so you can enjoy its beauty from early summer till autumn, The fruits are best left on the vine till ripe and then picked.
