Germinated Lemon Drop Mangosteen Seeds - Garcinia Intermedia - Tropical Fruit

My precious seeds from the deepest part of the streamy jungles of Ecaudor have just started germinating! I had to plant them as quickly as possible, when they arrived. I spent the whole night peeling them carefully to help quicken the germination rates. I planted them in my home-made 511 soil (with secret amendments) and carefully water with distilled water. Then waited.......

Two months later the first signs of life have emerged and they are all proudly pushing through the soil with their first set of leaves. Apperently, they are slow growers and prefer to concentrate on root growth before further foliage growth, but I'm happy to sit and wait.

Lemon Drop Mangosteen (Garcinia Intermedia) is a close relative of the famouse tropical fruit Purple Mangosteen. Lemon Drops can be easily grown in a container and will provide tasty, lemony, zingy, tropical fruit from about 2 years of age, unlike their cousins the Mangosteen which you will have to wait at least 8 years from seed growth and even then may not be true to seed, so these are best to have grafted varieties, especially when growing outside it's natural tropical setting, as it can fruit quicker and be container grown as it generally grow smaller.

They will be available for selling on my website in the next month or two, www.thebloomingjungle.com
